Now about that Huge Dose of Failure

I was surprised by the outcome of my contest. Though my traffic numbers are not huge, that with my current blog traffic, twitter followers, and Facebook fans, I thought I could drive some new traffic to my website with a contest.  I failed and will have to revisit what I did to figure out how I can improve the next time I attempt something similar.

Why I need to Learn From this Failure

I am working on a new e-book called In Search of Freedom Money. Don’t worry, the e-book is not about driving traffic to your blog, but I was looking to build some exposure so that the e-book has a larger impact when it is released.

In Search of Freedom Money is call to others in the same failure rut as I am to co-create a successful Freedom Money Businesses.  This is not a look at me I am an expert book, but a manifesto of how we can together create something great.

Many of you might be saying, “What did I subscribe to again?”

I understand.

After finishing my series on Becoming a Superhero, my blogging time has been taken up with a number of time critical projects:

1. Wedding – I am getting married in June, so preparations for the wedding, honeymoon, and moving in together are my number one priority right now.
2. Toastmasters – If preparing for a wedding wasn’t enough, I have survived the first three levels of the Toastmasters International speech competition and am preparing for the fourth level (of six) that is coming up in a few weeks.
3. Keynotes – I have been asked to deliver a portion of my “Create your own LUCK” program to a local group this month and in June. I have some new ideas about how to present this keynote, so I have been working on getting those ideas integrated into the presentation.
4. Conferences – I am the Chairperson of two conferences that are happening in the next two weeks, so I am running around like a maniac making sure everything will be perfect.

I have a challenge for you my readers.

I dream of traveling the world to speak to audiences about technology, leadership, and personal development. The past five years, I have worked hard at becoming an excellent speaker. However, being a great speaker is only part of the equation.

What it Takes to be a Professional Speaker

In order to be a professional speaker, you need a combination of speaking skill, knowledge, and marketing.  I have the first two, but I am struggling at becoming a marketable speaker.

An event that I have always wanted to speak at is South by Southwest (SXSW), a music, film, and interactive media festival. The SXSW event is a key event for me, because it lets me reach a young, technologically savvy, and forward thinking audience.
