This is Why You Are Fat

We have been talking about mindset the past few days. If you have found this discussion interesting, then send me a message or let me know in the comments what you have liked or disliked about my discussion of mindset.

This is Why You Are Fat

A few months ago, I stumbled on a now non-existent blog that showed pictures of outrageous foods that likely had huge caloric and fat contents (the KFC Double Down comes to mind). The title of the blog tells it all, if you eat these items regularly, then you will be fat.
While what you eat can make you fat, it is your mindset that is determining what you eat and it can affect not only your weight, but it also affects your energy levels, ability to get work done, and your outcome in life.

The Mindset that Was Making Me Fat

What do you look forward to when you travel? Is it the history of the, the people you will meet, or the fabulous hotels you will get to stay at that is causing you to daydream?
I look forward to the food and it is not a lot of leafy green vegetables I am dreaming about. It is the donuts in Amish Country, the barbecue in Charlotte, and the fried chicken in Memphis. I have established a pattern of thinking that relates travel to food and if I don’t change that thought pattern, then I am going to be fat.

What Patterns Are Holding You Back?

These thought patterns are not only making us fat, but they put the blinders on us when it comes to having a mindset that allows us to take massive action to change our lives.
There are some common patterns I see in my thoughts and the thoughts of others:
  • Work exhausts me so I have no energy to do anything constructive when I get home at night.
  • I am not a good speaker, so I don’t want to speak.
  • I am not a good writer, so no one will want to read what I have to write.
  • I don’t have the experience for the job, so they won’t even look at my resume.
  • I don’t know the right people, so I won’t get considered for an interview.
The patterns we create in our thoughts affect the outcome we receive in our lives. When I look forward to eating when I travel, I will only be satisfied when I have something good to eat. If I change the patterns, then I can change how I enjoy travel.
How can you change your patterns in your thinking so that you can better enjoy the outcomes in your life?
Could you:
  • Focus on the history of where you are going instead of the cuisine.
  • Know that you will have abundant energy when you get home from work.
  • Know that speaking takes practice and you have many opportunities to become a better speaker.
What you experience is related to the thought patterns you have created before you experience the event. If you have created healthy patterns leading up to the event, then the event will more likely generate positive outcomes.
